The 'White City' of Tel Aviv, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003, boasts the world's most concentrated and comprehensive collection of modernist buildings within a single area. The stark, geometric forms of 'Bauhaus'-style Tel Aviv architecture is derived from the design theory of Germany and Eastern Europe in the 1930s imported by Jewish refugees.
