Lenarduzzi joins an elite group. Past winners have
included former Canucks GM Pat Quinn, broadcaster Jim Robson, owner-builder
Arthur Griffiths, Vancouver Canucks Captain Trevor Linden, BC Lions'
place-kicker Lui Passaglia, CART driver Greg Moore, and last year,
BC Lions President Glen Ringdal.
Vancouver-born
Bob Lenarduzzi's records as a player, coach and manager is spectacular.
Along with his 67-game, five-season stint with fourth division F.C.
Reading in England, he has been a member of the Canadian National
Team, played 288 regular season games with the Vancovuer Whitecaps
and 48 with the Tacoma Stars.
He
was a player-coach and later a manager-coach with the Vancouver
86ers, and during his tenure led the team to five regular season
titles and six championship final appearances, having won the title
four consecutive times between 1988 and 1991.
In
1990, he was appointed Canada's World Cup and Olympic teams coach
to become the first full-time Canadian born to guide Canada through
international competition. He has coached Canada in 59 full "A"
international games.
Among
many honors, he has been named North American Player of the Year,
national Coach of the Year, and national Manager of the Year and
in in 1992 was inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame.
Bob
was the General Manager of the Vancouver Whitecaps of the American
Soccer League until a few weeks ago. We look forward to following
