Hillel’s Israel awareness display tells the story
of Israeli history, culture, economy and people, providing
a stunning panorama of a small but vibrant and diverse society.
This magnificently designed new exhibit is a centerpiece
of the outstanding advocacy work done by Vancouver Hillel
on behalf of Jewish peoplehood and self-determination. Vancouver
Hillel is immensely proud to stand with Israel today and
always.

“1948
Israel Flies” - Is the story of a young graduate engineer
David Panar, who travels to Palestine in 1948 to play an
important role in the reconstruction of Israel’s first
fighter plane from the remnants of a shot down Egyptian
spitfire aircraft. This is a story of ingenuity and resourcefulness.

Dr. Dalia Hakker-Orion will give a slide presentation/lecture
providing an overview of the development of contemporary art
in Israel. She will discuss the myths about Israeli art, the
connection between the political and social occurrences and
the art and the changes in the art scene that she has witnessed
as a visual artist over the past twenty years. |
